Yakshayana 2019-20

On demand by the Yakshagana admirers, the journey of Yakshayana continued in 2020 too. This was for the second consecutive year that Govinda Dasa College organised an Inter- Collegiate Yakshagana (Thenkuthitu) Competition ‘YAKSHA YANA -2020’ in association with Parents’ Teachers’ Association, Govinda Dasa College on 3.1.2020 & 4.1.2020 at Rangamandira ,Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal.

The Inauguration function was held on 3.1.2020 where, Dr. K Shivashankar Bhat, Principal, Govinda Dasa College ,Surathkal was the President of the Programme. The Inauguration and ashirvachana was rendered by I.Ramananda Bhat, Hereditary Trustee, Iddya Mahalingeshwara Temple . Shri M Venkat Rao, Secretary, H.V Sangha ®, Surathkal, Shri Agari Ragavendra Bhat, Agari Enterprises, Surathkal, and Prof. Ramesh Kulai, Director-Administrator, Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal were the Chief Guest of the  programme.

In total, there were 7 colleges who had participated in this competition. They are: Shree Durgaparameshwari devala first grade college, Kateel (Narakasura Mooksha); Alva’s College , Moodabidri (Sayujya Sangrama); Sri Dharmastala Manjunatheshwara College, Ujire (Sudharshana Vijaya); S.V.S College, Bantwala  (Babruvahana); Vivekananda College, Puttur (Karthaveeryarjuna Kalaga), Vijaya College, Mulki (Bahoumasura), Dr.Dayananda Pai Dr. Satish Pai Government first grade college, Carstreet & Mangalore ( Narakasura Mooksha) . Govinda Dasa College students had also performed on (Shashiprabha Parinaya).

Alva’s College , Moodabidri (Sayujya Sangrama) bagged overalls 1st Place ; SDM College, Ujire, (Bahoumasura) bagged 2nd place and ; Shree Durgaparameshwari Devala first grade college, Kateel (Narakasoora Moksha) grabbed 3rd Place.

The Closing Ceremony was held on 4th Jan 2020 . Dr.K Shivshankar Bhat, Principal, Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal rendered the Presidential remarks . Shri Agari Bhaskar Rao & Shri Anand Bangera were the Chief Guests. Prof.Ramesh Bhat, SWO & Co-ordinator of Fine arts proposed the Vote of thanks. This programme was highly appreciated by the audience.
