Annual Special Nss camp of Govinda Dasa College was held at Kalavar Aided Higher Primary School Cheliyaru Haleyangadi from 22-11-2019 to 28-12-2019. 101 volunteers actively participated in the camp under the guidance of program officer Mrs. Pratheeksha and Ms. Poornima Gokhale.
Camp was inaugurated on 22-11-2019 by Sri Jayananda President Of Cheliyaru Grama Panchayat, Sri E. Janardhan, President, H.V Sangha was the Chief Guest of the program, Dr. K Shivashankara Bhat, Principal presided over the program. Smt Kasthuri Panja vice president grama panchayat, Sri Vishwanath.P, P.D.O cheliyar, Sri Ravindra Rao, rtd HM kalavar school, Sri Rajesh Shetty, Sri Laksmisha Rao, Sri Gangadhar Poojari, Smt Rekha member grama panchayat, Prof. Krishnamoorthi Vice Principal of GDC, Sri Leeladhar Shetty PTA president of GDC, And Secretaries Of NSS, Staff, And Students of kalavar School and colleagues Of Govinda Dasa College were present in the program.
During the annual camp, school premises were cleaned by volunteers. The public well which was difficult to use was made to be used by making the proper road. A free dental check-up and camp were conducted to the people of the cheliyaru with the help of doctors of Yenopoya hospital. A “tobacco-free India” a seminar was conducted to create awareness. Volunteers created awareness about how to keep the area clean to the people of the village.
As a part of the camp as an educational program a “LEADERSHIP QUALITY” by Jc. Lokesh rai, “TULUNADINA JANAPADA SAMSKRITHI “ by Sri K .K. Pejawar, “IRUVUDONDE BHOOMI” by Sri Atul Bhat, “ART AND CRAFT TRAINING “ by Smt Shyamala Devi was conducted to the volunteers and all took the good advantage of the program.
During the camp, the team visited to the nearby AGOLI MANJANNA GUTTU and got information about the ancient days well and their lifestyle. RD represented NSS volunteer Manjunath trained the volunteers about the basics of the parade.
Smt. Vineeta K, program officer NSS, Mangalore University visited the camp and given good compliments for the camp organization. Many seniors students and volunteers visited the camp and given advice and shared their experiences with volunteers.
Camp valedictory Program was held on 28-11-2019 which presided by Dr. K Shivashankara Bhat, Prof Ramesh kulai, Administrative Director of Govinda Dasa College was present as the chief guest of the program. Smt Shobha Chithrapura, in charge Headmistress of the Kalavar School, and Sri Ravindra Rao formerH.M of the school were present in the program. During the camp days, a various cultural program was performed by the volunteers and exhibited the talent, daily SHIBIRA VANI- a bulletin was prepared and published in the camp by the volunteers.
