Matrubhasa Diwas[2019-2020]

To mark the international mother tongue day, ‘Matrubhasha Diwas’ (21st Feb)  was celebrated at Govinda Dasa Collebe Library on 20.02.2020 .( 21st Holiday  on account of  Mahashivarati.)  There was an auspicious beginning with the lighting of lamp.

Principal Dr. Shivashankar Bhat Presided the Program and addressed the Students. India, is a proud motherland of various languages adorning different regions. ‘Matribhasha Diwas’ was indeed a golden opportunity to celebrate something that is dear, next to our own mothers , to us –Our Matribasha. Regional languages were a good opportunity to both the students and teachers to know the greatness and specialties of different languages.

Vice Principal Prof. P. Krishnamurthy told that Languages are the most powerful instruments of preserving and developing our tangible and intangible heritage. All moves to promote the dissemination of mother tongues will serve not only to encourage linguistic diversity and multilingual education but also to develop fuller awareness of linguistic and cultural traditions throughout the world and to inspire solidarity based on understanding, tolerance and dialogue.

‘Prof. Ramesh Kulai, Director Administration, Govinda Dasa College, told importantce of Matrubhasha Diwas and the fluency and the joy with which they spoke their mother tongue proved once again that our mother tongue is a part of our own identity. We may have different religions, different languages, different coloured skin, but we all belong to ONE human race.

Lectureres,  Prof. Marcel Louis Mascarhnes, Prof. Harish Acharya, Prof. Neelappa, V, Smt. Daya Suvarna, Lft. Sudha U Shetty, Dr. Ashalatha, Kum Sreraksha, Kum. Jyothi Kamath, Kum. Shwetha,. Librarian Smt. Savithri A, Library Staff. K. Chandrashekar  and more than 70 students were presents for this program.

As a part of this celebration,  College Library organized Debate and Book exhibition.

III BA Students Krishnaveni welcomed the gathering, Kum Sharanya Proposed the vote of thanks. Kum Rashmitha was Master of Ceremony.
