A well known Hindi writer Munshi Premchand’s 142nd birth anniversary
was celebrated by the Department of Hindi and Govinda Dasa College Library on 31 July,2021.
The Principal, Prof. Krishnamurthy, inaugurated and presided over the function. Addressing the gathering he mentioned that Munshi Premchand had focused on the problems of weaker sections, widow remarriage and many such social issues in his major works. He also spoke about Premchand’s valuable contributions to the literary world .
Head of the Hindi Department, Prof. Marcel Louis delivered a speech on the life and literary career of Munshi Premchand.
Jyothi S. Kamath, Lecturer, Department of Hindi spoke on Premchand’s major works Godaan and Nirmala.
The Vice-Principal Prof. Ramesh Bhat and other faculty members were present.Librarian, Smt. Savithri welcomed the gathering, Smt. Ashwini rendered the vote of thanks.
