About :

The National Service Scheme is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Centenary year in 1969.

31st October 2021 ‘National Unity Day’ & ‘Beach Cleanup Campaign’ programme was held at Iddya Beach Surathkal in association with Neharu Youva Kendra, Govt Of India Youth, Department of Sports Mangalore, National Service Scheme & NCC Wings of Govinda Dasa College Surathkal, Iddya Beach Development association Iddya; Aapathbandhava Social Service Association Surathkal, and in association with various service organisations. The programme started @ 8:30 in the morning.

Our NSS volunteers participated in beach cleanup Campaign & they cleaned the beach environment and garbage was divided into raw and dry garbage.

“ We worked on maintaining the cleanliness of the Beach”.

5th December

2021    

‘Patriotic Citizen Forum’ Surathkal organised “Ek Sham Desh Ke Naam” programme at Govinda Dasa College – Rangamandira. Veteran soldiers who participated in the Battle of 1971 were honoured. NSS volunteers of our college participated in this programme. On account Bangla War of Liberation prizes were distributed to winners of essay and speech competitions.

As part of Amritha Mahosava of the Independence Day, at Govinda Dasa College Library a programme of “speech for Freedom Fighters 50th record release” ceremony was held. Our NSS volunteers participated in the same programme and NSS volunteers Vishal of II BCA and Swathi M of  II Bsc won prizes in the Pusthaka Preethi Competition.

At Panambur Beach there was Cleanup Campaign and Green City Building Programme was held. Our college NSS volunteers participated in the same and cleaned the beach area.
2nd January 2022

 

 

In audio visual hall of Govinda Dasa college the Inaugration of the Clean Campaign was held. Our old students Miss Bindiya Shetty and Miss Krithi V Rao got felicitated in the same programme for their achievement. Mrs. Pratheeksha NSS programme officer of Govinda Dasa College felicitated as she Awareded as “The Best NSS Programme Officer” in this programme. Our Principal Prof. P Krishnamurthy also got felicitated for Best NSS unit. And finally those students who have participated in Clean Surathkal Campaign previously appreciated for their work.

Vaccination camp was held at Health Centre Surathkal. Surathkal Primary Health Centre, krishnapura, kaikamba and in surrounding schools and colleges the same campaign was held. Our college NSS volunteers participated in registration work of 1st and 2nd Dose.

On account of Vivekananda Jayanthi , “Viveka Namana” was held and there was lighting the lamp and flowering to his Portrait. Swathi M of II BSc was mastering the ceremony and Yashwin of II BCA spoke a few words about Vivekananda. The Principal Prof. P Krishnamurty addressed the students.

On account of Vivekananda Jayanthi & National Youth Day there was a competition called ‘Viveka Chithra’ ( drawing competition) was held in our college. Student of our college participated & painted vivekananda’s portrait through pencil sketch.
19th Jnauary 2022 A speech competition ( Viveka Nudi ) was held at our college. Students of our college spoke in Kannada, English, and Tulu about Swami Vivekananda’s ideas & thoughts.
20th January 2022 There was a programme to clean the college ground. NSS Volunteers cleaned the play ground of the college to the fullest extent.
2nd February 2022 The inauguration of NSS unit for the academic year 2021-22 was held at Audio –Visual Hall of Govinda Dasa college.  Prof. Raviprabha the NSS programme officer of Besant women’s college , Mangalore has inaugurated the programme and addressed the gathering.

3rd February 2022 There was health education based street play “ Samsara” was held in front of ‘Saraswathi Peta’ of our college by District Health & Family Welfare Department D.K District in association with Taluk Health Department Mangalore, Field Health Education Department Mangalore, Primary Health Centre Kulai , IQAC GDC, NSS unit I and Unit II and Cultural Team GDC, Surathkal.
5th February 2022 NSS volunteers of our college ( unit 1 and unit 2) worked on cleaning of our college playground. As a part of this cleaning programme students picked up the plastic waste and other waste and cleaned the ground.
27th February 2022 Mangalore University , Brhamashree Narayanaguru Adhyayana Peeta in association with ‘Ninaada’ Tulu Cultural Centre “Grama Ninaada” programme was held @ “Ninaada Rangamandhira” Pavanje.

Student of Govinda Dasa P.U College Miss Hitha Umesh was felicitated at this programme.

Shri Narayanaguru Sathyadarshana book was released in the programme which was translated by Dr. Meenakshi Ramachandra.

Our college NSS volunteers participated in various village games which was organised there and all of our students witnessed the programme.

3rd March

2022

There was a university level programme on “Azadi ka Amrith Mahosav India -75 and gender Inequality” was held at Ravindra Kalabhavana, University College Mangalore in association with Youth Empowerment & Sports Department, National Service Scheme Directory Bangalore, NSS Mangalore University, VTU Belgam NSS.

There was a talk on Health & Nutrition Eating  by Dr. Shilpa , Professor Yenepoya Ayurveda College.

As a part of the  programme there was a Drama & Songs by Smt. Manjula Sanil and her team on Gender Inequality. Afternoon  at 3;00 PM there was a felicitation programme to our NSS volunteers who represented our college in Republic Day Parade.

20th March -26th March 2022 Annual Special Camp 2022 at Govt Higher Primary School Badaga Yekkaru.
9th May 2022 – 14th May 2022 On Account of International Yoga Day Six days Yoga Camp was organised in our college.

On 9thn May 2022 there was formal Inaugral Programme of Yoga Camp 2022

Yoga Guru Dr. M Jagadish Shetty taught various Asanaas and best Yoga Mudras to the students.

He also addressed the students about the uses of those Mudras & Asanaas.

On 14th May 2022 there was an Validictory programme was held and participation certificate was distributed to the students.

Yoga Guru was felicitated by the Principal Prof. P Krishnamurthy.

10th June 2022 The NSS unit of Canara College had organised National Level for NSS volunteers named ” Srujana”. There were totally nine events and 20 students including three seniors participated participated in all the events. Our team won 1st place in ” KALARANGA” ( STREET PLAY)  and “NATYAKARANJI” ( Group Dance) AND 2nd place in “CHITHRA CHITTARA” (Poster Making) and K. Navaneeth Rao of II BCOM won “SRUJANA SAMRATA”( all Rounder). With all these prizes we won overall Championship of “SRUJANA “2022. This was the consecutive 5th Year of overall Championship for our Govinda Dasa College. The team was Guided by NSS programme officer, cultural Co-ordinator as well as the old students of Govinda Dasa College.
16-12-2021-22-12-2021. National Integration Camp organised by Directorate of students welfare, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. It was for a week from 16-12-2021-22-12-2021.

Theme of the camp was “Athmanirbhar Bharat”.

20th July 2022 On 20th July 2022 Army Recruitment Office Mangalore Unit, Mangalore North Constituency and Govinda Dasa College Cordially hosted an information session on Central Government Promising Scheme called “Agnipath”. Principal Prof. P Krishnamurthy presided the function. Dr. Y Bharath Shetty, MLA  Mangalore North Constituency was the guest of Honour. Major Sunil Kumar was the resource person of the day. He gave a detailed information about “Agnipath” Scheme. He also explained the process of application, selection, examination as well as a criteria of Eligibility For Agniveer and a common entry for defense field. Corporator Varun Chawta and Shwetha Poojary and other political and local leaders were witnessed the programme. The NSS volunteers and NCC Cadets of our college participated in the session.
22nd May -28th May 2022 NATIONAL INTEGRATION CAMP

Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Regional Directorate of NSS – Government of India in association with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka cordially hosted ‘National

Integration Camp’ at Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences from 22nd May to 28th  May 2022.

Universities from 11 different states of India participated in the camp including Karnataka.

8 students from 5 different colleges of Mangalore University and one NSS Officer participated in the camp. Mrs. Akshatha V, NSS Officer, Govinda Dasa College lead the team of Mangalore University and she was the Contingent Leader of Karnataka. Two students of Govinda Dasa College, Swathi M of 2 nd BSc and Divyashree K N Bhat of 1 st BCA represented Karnataka team under Mangalore University.

10th May 2022 DISTRIBUTION OF FLAG

Flag distribution to all the NSS volunteers was done on 10-08-2022 on account of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’

campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

All the volunteers collected the tricolor flag in the disciplined manner. Rules regarding the hoisting of

flag were explained to them and were asked the join their hands in making this campaign a grand success.

13-08-2022- 15-08-2022. HAR GHAR TIRANGA

NSS volunteers of Govinda Dasa College joined their hands in making ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign a

grand success. After receiving the flag distributed in the college, volunteers visited several houses of

their locality and explained the importance of the National Flag, handed the flag over to them and asked them to hoist the flag in their houses from 13-08-2022 to 15-08-2022.

18-08-2022 Sadbhavana Day- in connection with  Sadbhavana Day an Oath taking Programme was observed as in our college at 3:30 PM. in Assembly Hall. PTA president Mr. Yadav Devadiga was the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering regarding the importance of the Sadhbavana Day.
24-09-2022 NSS day is celebrated at A V hall. Miss Bindiya L Shetty was the Chief guest of the programme. She inspired and motivated our NSS volunteers with her knowledgeable and valuable words. Principal Prof. P Krishnamoorthy , Vice Principal Prof Ramesh Bhat S G, Marcel Louis Mascarenhas and NSS programme officers were the guest of this programme.

November  27 2020 to December 06, 2020 South zone Pre-RD camp, to be held at Tiruchirapalli. Rashmi j Anchan has represented Mangalore university and attended the camp.
November 27, 2020 Vigilance awareness week was organized in the college, an oath of corruption-free India was taken by NSS volunteers and NCC cadets, program officer Poornima Gokhale, Captian Sudha u, director admin Ramesh Kulai, Principal Prof. Krishnamoorthy p, Vice-Principal Prof.Ramesh Bhat, journalism hod, Manjappa Gowda was present in the programme.
December 19, 2020 SDG for youth – organized by UNDP 5 volunteers participated in the programme.
January 01, 2021, to January 31, 2021 Rashmi j Anchan, II BCom will be participating in the National Republic day parade camp, organized by the ministry and youth affairs and sports New Delhi, representing Karnataka state as an NSS volunteer.
January 07, 2021 “Vidyagama ” a programme to help the education of government school children’s’ organized by State NSS cell and Mangalore University, Programme officer Poornima Gokhale and  5 volunteers participated in the session.
January 08, 2021, to January,  12,2021 Ananya Akhilashree Rao, II BCom  will be participating in a state-level youth festival  to be held at Gulbarga university representing Mangalore university.
January 12, 2021 On account of the 158th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda the National Youth Day was celebrated in college on 12 January 2021, in partnership with the IQAC, NCC and NSS wing of the college.Guest-speaker Ms. Akshaya Gokhale addressed the gathering,The Administrative Director  Prof. Ramesh Kulai,Principal Prof. Krishnamoorthy P. The Vice-Principal and SWO Ramesh Bhat, the IQAC Coordinator  Prof. Hareesha Acharya were present in the Programme. Following the pandemic guidelines, 50 students attended the programme. All the Deans, HODs, and teaching and non-teaching staff of various departments participated in the event.
February 02,2021 Inauguration of NSS units for the academic year 2020-2021.

 February 12, 2021. Campus cleaning was done by volunteers near the rural Dental clinic center.
 February 12, 2021. 25  NSS Volunteers participated  and helped in serving lunch and participated as volunteers  in “Dakshina Kannada Zilla Kannada Sahitya sammelana”, held at panambur sri nandaneshwar temple.
 February 13, 2021. An Oral Health Awareness Programme was conducted for the NSS volunteers on 13 February 2021. The Associate Dean of Srinivas Dental Health Center Dr. Lavanya Varma, addressing the gathering she shared her views on how oral health is important in day-to-day life. Principal Krishnamoorthi P. presided over the session.,An interactive session  on general oral health was conducted by Dr. Benita Ashwini and on Orthodontics by Dr. Suhani Shetty.  Dr. Srividya Bhat, Reader In-charge, Department of Public Dentistry, Srinivas Dental College, Programme Officers Pratheeksha and Poornima Gokhale were present in the programme. As many as  90 volunteers participated in the session.

March 23, 2021 Covid-19 Awareness Programme was conducted by Nss volunteers, in collaboration with NCC,  and the youth Red cross. volunteers visited near by shops, rickshaw stand, and the local bus and spoke to people to create awareness regarding the cleanliness and preventive measures to be taken by them.

June 5 , 2021 World Environmental Day, was celebrated on June 5, 2021by Volunteers by planting the saplings in their homes. with this volunteer who had taken a pledge the previous year to take care of a plant, they have grown had fulfilled it and the plant has grown a good yield to them.
June 21, 2021 International Yoga day Was Celebrated , in an virtual way by watching and following the Vijayibhava  you tube channel.
August 20,2021 Sathbhava Day was Celebrated by taking a pledge, in remembrance of late prime minister Sri Rajiv Gandhi’s Birthday.
September 17,2021 Ms. Bindya Shetty of III Bcom selected for National Award, Best NSS volunteer 2019-2020, to be received by the President of India.
September 17,2021 First Aid training programme held in the college, for various P.Ed staff  of high school and primary schools by Red cross district unit , NSS volunteers Participated in the session actively.
September 24,2021 Ms. Bindya Shetty of III Bcom received the Best NSS volunteer award from Honorable President of India,Sri Ram Nath Kovind , at New Delhi.

November 10,2021-November 21,2021 “Lasika Mitra ” an vaccination awareness drive was held at Mangaluru City corporation limits . Daily nearlt15-20 volunteers participated and created awareness among the people. An video  of sharing the experience was done by the Volunteers.
March 3,2022 Ms. Kriti Rao, Ms. Bindiya Shetty, Ms. Rashmi J Anchan received Best NSS volunteer Award-University Level respectively for the year,2018-19,2019-20,2020-21. in the award ceremoney held at Managlore University  ravindra kala bhavana hall.
September 6,2022 Ms. Rashmi J Anchan was Selected as Best NSS Volunteer of Karnataka State-(2020-2021).
September 10,2022 Ms. Rashmi J Anchan was received  Best NSS Volunteer of Karnataka State-(2020-2021) award from Ministry of youth  affairs and sports Department Karnataka  and Bangalore urban University NSS department.

June 5th -2019 Celebration of World Environmental Day- Students created awareness among the common public about the environment and presented a skit. 15 students Participated in the Program.
June 8th -2019 “Hasiru Mangaluru” – The program was conducted to improve the greenery in Mangalore. Held at Mangalore University Nss officers Mrs. Pratheeksha and officer Mrs. Babitha N has attended the program. Student representatives Samanvitha and Ashwitha had participated.
 June 6th -2019 to June 10th-2019 State-level youth festival was conducted in shivamoga, Vaishnavi and rashmitha  has participated in the camp and represented college.

International Yoga Day -Yoga day was celebrated in college in collaboration with Patanjali Yoga Kendra, NCC unit of the college. Trainers from Patanjali yoga Kendra shared the importance of exercise and conducted yoga for the volunteers.20 volunteers participated in the program.
June 27th -2019 Enrolment for Nss meeting- Enrolment of the new batch of volunteers done on this day. New secretaries JayaPrakash, Manish Rao, Samanvitha, Ashwitha were elected on this day for the next academic year.
June 30th -2019 Swatch Surathkal-In joint venture with Ramakrishna mission Mangalore, Nagarika-salahasamithi Surathkal, NCC unit Govinda Dasa college, 70 of Nss volunteers Participated in the swatch Surathkal program. 50 volunteers participated.
July 1st -2019 Vanamahotstava-Vanamahotstava was celebrated on July 1st in the college campus in collaboration with JCI Surathkal. Students planted nearly 25 saplings on the college campus. 25 volunteers participated
July 7st -2019 “TULU SIRI TUDE BARI” YUVAKARIGONDU KRISHI PAATA-A one day camp regarding agricultural activities has been conducted in pavanje in collaboration with Aloysius Pre-university college on account of celebrating 10th anniversary of radio saarang, Aloysius college Mangalore.75 Volunteers planted the rice saplings in the filed with the help of farmers.
July 18th -2019 INAUGURAL OF NSS ACTIVITIES OF 2019-2020-NSS unit for the academic 2019-2020 was inaugurated. Around 100 Nss volunteers from the college registered for Nss this academic year.
July 19th -2019 Divya’s Diploma Inner Value Course. The program was organized in collaboration with the Red Cross unit of the college. 80 NSS volunteers participated
July 30th -2019 Dengue awareness and campus cleaning.- An awareness program of prevention of dengue was undertaken in college for all the faculties by Principal with the direction of District Commissioner Mangalore. Volunteers cleaned the campus and preventive measures were taken under the guidance of NSS officers, 20 students participated.
August 3rd -2019 “Matte Kalyana “ -10 Nss volunteers Participated in the program.
August 3rd  -2019 Republic day selection preliminary meeting. A meeting was held in college for students and given information about RD_camp to be held in Delhi and also the selection process.
August 4th  -2019 Swatch Surathkal abhiyaan-30 NSS volunteers attended swatch Surathkal program in a joint venture with Sri Ramakrishna mutt Mangalore, sri Patanjali yoga Shikshan Kendra , youth red cross unit Govinda Dasa college and created awareness and joined hands to clean the area.
August 8th  -2019 Republic day cadet selection -Selection of students for RD- camp to be held in Delhi .10 students participated.
August 15th  -2019 Independence day celebration-all NSS volunteers participated.
August 17th -2019 Republic day selection camp- Mangalore University –camp selection process was undertaken for the enrolled students. Manish Rao and Bindya Shetty attended the camp. Student Bindya Shetty was selected for the next round.
August 18th -2019 Dengue awareness program-Dengue awareness program was conducted by the district commissioner, Mangalore under the guidance of the health department 5 volunteers participated in the program.
August 19th -2019 NSS officers meeting-Meeting for NSS officers of Kodagu, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada district was conducted by NSS unit Mangalore. September 9th  -2019 Vishwa Vijetha – a celebration of the 125th year of Swami Vivekananda’s speech at Chicago. 150 students participated in the program.
