The department offers a three year under-graduate course in Mass communication and Journalism for BA students. The department was started in the year 2005. Having a history of more than 13 years it has produced many media personalities who are shining in state and local media. The department has well-equipped studio with recording system and panel discussion table. The course comprises of theory as well as practical training. The department offers practical training to the students to bring out ‘Hombelaku’, a hand written wall magazine and has a YouTube channel ‘GDC Cine crew’.Today journalism as a career stands not only for a challenging career option but also as a prestigious profession.

Best Practices of the department
- ‘Hombelaku’: a handwritten wall magazine brought out by first year students. This will help them to improve their writing skill and to learn about newspaper page designing.
- Practical Interview: Dept. has well equipped studio with Panel discussion table. Students practice interview taking skill in this studio.
- Practical experience: students get practical experience of Voice recording, short movie making, video recording, photography, newspaper making in Quark Express page designing software, etc.
4.Movie-screening: This practical class is followed by discussion about the movie, camera angel, direction, acting, music and movie review.
